Press Release: USA’s First Level C Project Managers Certified in Performance Competency!
LEXINGTON, MA (July 4, 2006) — June 23, 2007 was a momentous day in the history of both asapm and project management in the USA. On that day, asapm certified its first Project Managers! We’re still dotting some i’s and crossing some t’s, so we can’t announce the names yet, but we will do so in the next newsletter.
The deep discounts authorized by the PMCert Board to kick-start the program will only be available through the end of 2007, so if you’ve been thinking of getting a performance-based competency certification, now’s the time to do it!
We’ve expanded the offerings to include Level C, Project Manager, as well as the original Level B, Senior Project Manager. Levels are determined by the project management complexity of the projects managed. Some basic guidance on assessing the complexity of your projects can be found on the asapm website.
The next round of interviews is planned for late October. Stage 2 applications for previously accepted candidates are due October 1. For new candidates, Stage 1 applications are due September 15 and the Stage 2 applications are due October 15. At present, we are planning to interview candidates in both Dallas and Boston. The exact dates will be determined based on the number of applications received, and the locations may be changed to minimize candidate travel.
The applications have been updated based on our experience with the first round of candidates. Copies of the new applications will be available on the website within a few days, or you can request one directly: Contact PMCert.
Finally, we are also planning to offer a Level D Exam in Boston on Monday, October 29, 2007 as part of the Project Summit Conference. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to project management, and especially those involved with project management on Information Technology projects, to demonstrate their knowledge, and then to pick up some more knowledge by attending the conference afterwards.
