What should a person with this award be able to do?

An individual operating at this level should have project management knowledge in most elements of the National Competence Baseline (NCB) and aspects of Project Management and be able to assist in the management of non complex projects while further project management experience is gained.

What is Assessed?

Candidates complete a written exam that lasts about 3 hours and consists of a composite of direct questions and open essays.

At least one of the essay questions requires a high degree of numeracy. Both sections are based on the asapm National Competence Baseline (NCB).

How does one attain this award?

This award is currently available, based on periodic examinations that we hold in selected locations around the country. We also hold asapm Certified Project Associate examinations at your site if you have a group of practitioners to certify.

Step 1: Download and review the USA National Competence Baseline. This is the foundation for Program and Project Managers' competence development and assessment.

Step 2: Download, complete and submit an Application for asapm Certified Project Associate, including payment of the examination fees, and signing the asapm Code of Ethics.

Step 3: Sit for our examination that verifies your level of knowledge and skill as appropriate for a Project Associate. xUpon successful completion of the examination, you will receive your credential.

Your credential is valid for a period of five years. During that period, we suggest that you pursue additional certification levels within the asapm Certification Program.
