Who this is for

  • You already answer for results beyond your own team

And you have noticed the conversation changed: it is no longer about what ships this quarter, but about where the company bets and what it stops doing.

  • You are taking on, or competing for, a leadership role

Group PM, Head of Product or Director. The role asks for portfolio decisions and people leadership, not execution mastery, which you have already proven.

  • You lead through other people

You hire, calibrate, develop product managers and prepare succession. And you have to defend investment decisions to peers and to the board.

What you take with you

  • A permanent verification code

Anyone confirms your credential at pmcert.org/verify, without having to ask you for anything.

  • Approval that does not expire

A credential you earned does not lapse, asks for no annual renewal and charges no subscription.

  • LinkedIn and a public profile

Add it to your licenses and certifications section, or share the link to your profile.

  • A certificate with your score by domain

In PDF, showing how you performed in each area assessed.

What you need to know

Seven domains, drawn at random from a bank written for this exam. Read each one and see where you stand.

  • Product strategy and competitive positioning

Turning company strategy into a product thesis, and saying out loud what falls out of scope. A competitor move is information, not instruction.

  • Portfolio and investment allocation

Distributing capacity and budget across lines and horizons. When to start, when to shrink, and how to end an initiative that costs more than it returns.

  • Product economics and business results

Connecting product decisions to revenue, margin, retention and cost to serve. Writing the target in margin, not only in volume, and defending it to finance.

  • Product organization design

Boundaries of responsibility and the ratio between roles. Why doubling the number of teams does not double capacity, and what coordination charges for it.

  • People leadership and succession

Hiring, calibrating performance against a shared bar, and building who leads next. What to do when the problem is the manager, not the person being rated.

  • Executive influence and board communication

Building agreement among peers before the meeting, and bringing bad results with the cause and the decision already in hand. Boards forgive the miss, not the surprise.

  • Governance and product system operation

Decision limits that say in advance what escalates and what does not. Decision rituals, portfolio risk, and a structured response when results drift.

Test your knowledge with the Open Assessment

The Open Assessment has twenty questions at the level of the exam, with the result on the spot and a score for each domain. It is the honest way to decide whether you are ready.
